A philosopher is a person that usually thinks about life and tries to find out mysterious questions, and how to solve them. Since a long time ago, in ancient Greece, many people would just meditate about life, and would sit or talk and write books about life. These have always been one of Greeks reasons of why it is so famous. Because of their marvelous philosophers. The most important philosophers from that time and always are: Aristotle, Plato and Socrates. Socrates: Socrates was a very important philosopher. Plato: Since the democratic people made his fellow teacher die, he decided that a perfect government is not democratic. Instead, he liked a government with workers, soldiers, and philosopher kings. That made him start to write The Republic. This book was about his opinion of a perfect government. This is a very successful book that is still read today. He also wrote everything that Socrates sad, since Socrates did not like to write down his lessons. There was a time where the government asked Plato to be part of the government. Since Plato did not like the government, he rejected the option. Instead, he kept himself as a philosopher. As a philosopher, he was more into politics. Politics was his main interest and what he mostly talked about. Lots of his books were about politics, including The Republic. Aristotle: It was clear. Aristotle thought that all men were curious by instinct. Like Plato, he did write a large amount of books. In fact, he was Platos student, as Plato was Socrates. Even though he wrote tons of books, some of them started disappearing over time. Only a few books remain. He did not have a specific interest because he was interested in everything. One of his lessons was to take everything moderated, not to the extremes. Differing Views of Male-female Relationships in Three Poems In the three poems we experience three different views of how male-female relationships should take place. In ‘My Last Duchess’ we experience the view that the male should have the main role in relationships, in ‘La Belle Dame Sans Merci’ we hear of a relationship where the woman is in total control of the man and has all the power. Finally in ‘A Woman to Her Lover’ we read that both men and women should have an equal amount of power and no one should be dominant. Although at first ‘A Woman to Her Lover’ appears to only show the feminist views of relationships, it is in fact in search of equality between the males and females in relationships. ‘My Last Duchess’ gives the sense that a man has the leading role, and all of the power in any relationship whereas in ‘A Woman to Her Lover’, the ideas that both men and women should be equal in relationships are uttered. In the first stanza of the poem, we can see that the woman examines how women are typically expected to be by men (as a housewife) the â€Å"servant† and â€Å"to bear you children†. Doctors tell you that there is no known cure and that you will die by the age of fifty. There is a disease that increases your aging, that disease is known as Werner Syndrome. A medical student named Carl Wilhelm Otto Werner (1879-1936) first diagnosed this syndrome in 1905. The University of Kiel invited Werner , to examine four siblings in their early late 30?s with similar symptoms. He reported that they had cataracts, premature graying, and loss of hair. Thirty years later, Oppenheimer and Kugel describe a similar case of what they termed ?Werner Syndrome?(Harvard, pg.1 of 1). Werner Syndrome is an inherited disease in which patients develop symptoms post puppetry that resumes in rapid aging (Oppenheimer and Kugle 1 of 2). (WS) is a recessive disease that had been found in DNA. The gene for Werner Syndrome is found in the small region in chromosome 8. The genetic disease is recessive meaning that a child must inherit a defective copy from each parent to develop Werner. (Harvard 1of 3) One in out of every 200 people may carry a single copy of the defective gene. Since the finding of Werner syndrome gene in 1995, up to 10 mutation have been reported. Most people that are diagnosed with Werner Syndrome are of Japanese decent. Although this syndrome is more common in Japan, Werner Syndrome strikes about three in every 1 million people worldwide (SIRS Source 2of 3). Page 2 Cataracts, Osteoporosis, Heart Disease, Diabetes, and other diseases are some of the many ills that plague patients with Werner Syndrome.
